Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and were as blessed as I was! To those of you newly engaged, congratulations! If you're a first-time reader, welcome!
As tends to happen at the beginning of the year, there's been much talk in the wedding world lately of trends for 2012. Pantone has announced that the "colour of the year" for 2012 is Tangerine Tango, a juicy, rich and red-based orange that is sure to appear in many a wedding in 2012. |

In the past couple of years, non-floral bouquets have been gaining popularity among trendy brides. As a Planner, I love the opportunity these funky bouquets provide to incorporate aspects of my couples' personalities. For example: - musicians could include paper flowers made from sheet music
- people who sew could make pretty fabric blooms
- jewellery makers could hand-bead gorgeous flowers for a blingy bouquet
- heirloom brooches and pins can be used to incorporate the couples' heritage
- inspired chefs could create bouquets from herbs or berries

Traditionally, couples have accented their wedding colours with standard white and black, as these neutrals compliment any colour scheme, and are readily available in linens and decor items. Recently, and to this Planner's great excitement, intrepid couples have expanded their palettes and their themes to include gray, a fresh neutral that packs a big punch. From pale dove gray to classy pewter to strong charcoal, there are endless tones to choose from, all of which work exceptionally well together, and with virtually any other colour palette. |

This Planner loves little twists on the ordinary, and if you're having a champagne toast during your wedding reception, why not make it a little more memorable by adding beautiful (and delicious!) hibiscus flowers to the bottom of the champagne flute? The flowers are completely edible (they taste a bit like strawberry-rhubarb), and are lovely as they open up from the bubbles in the champagne. You're not limited to champagne toasts, however. There are a multitude of other ways to use hibiscus blossoms. |

You know it's wedding season when . . . this Planner apologies for the scarcity of blog posts lately! I'd like to congratulate all my couples, and thank them for letting me be part of their special day. So far, this Season has seen some lovely weddings, and there are more unmistakable days to come! I'd love to take credit for this fantastic idea, but I can't. Credit goes to my recent bride Kate, whose creativity shone through in her beautiful, fun wedding to groom Jason. |

Ever a fan of keeping things personal and unique, this Planner would like to introduce you to Prezi, a new, web-based presentation program. Prezi is sort of like a younger, hipper powerpoint, and has tons of wedding-related applications. Just some of the ways you could incorporate Prezi into your wedding planning and special day: - create an information Prezi for your bridesmaids/groomsmen and e-mail it to them
- create a wedding prezi to post on your wedding website
- create a "how we met" prezi to show at your stag and doe

I don't know about you, but this Planner was glued to the television last Friday morning as the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge tied the knot. The story of Wills and Kate is infinitely romantic, not to mention how beautiful they both are! Obviously, not everyone can have a wedding on the scale of the royals, but many of the details were so personal and well planned that they fit perfectly into the Unmistakably You wedding philosophy. Following are a few ways that you, too, can have a wedding fit for a royal. |

Every so often, a wedding gown comes along that makes this Planner wish she could get married all over. It's happened again, and it's the drool-worthy "Walking on Clouds" style from Ivy & Aster's new 2011 line (pictured to the right). Simple and classic, but sexy and playful at the same time - this gown's got it all. In case you're not familiar, Ivy & Aster is a relatively new American company owned by two friends and designers. Their gowns are currently only available in Canada at |

We’ve all heard of the candy buffet, which is a fun, interactive way to both decorate your space and give your guests a favour they’ll love. If candy buffets just aren’t your thing, however, there are lots of ways you can incorporate the stunning visual display and allow your guests to personalize their favours without the candy. As always, you’re only limited by your imagination. Purchasing the containers for a buffet of any kind can be expensive. You may be interested in renting them instead. |

Food stations are becoming a popular way to get guests mixing and mingling at your wedding. The traditional plated meal has guests seated at their specified table all evening, and limits their ability to converse with other people at the wedding. It also restricts guests to only the food on their plate, without the option of second servings. This planner loves the idea of setting up your meal in stations, or at least partially in stations, so that guests can mix it up all evening and choose only the food they love. |
